Sarah Jessica Parker Worried About Parenthood

By BANG Showbiz on September 15, 2011

Sarah Jessica Parker, pictures, picture, photos, photo, pics, pic, images, image, hot, sexy, latest, new, 2010NEW YORK – Sarah Jessica Parker constantly worried about what type of parent she would be before her first child was born.

The actress - who has eight-year-old son James Wilkie and two-year-old twins Tabitha and Marion with husband Matthew Broderick - was convinced her parenting was going to result in the youngster spending "the rest of his life" in therapy.

Speaking at a New York screening of her new movie 'I Don't Know How She Does It', she said: "I remember lying in bed before my son was born, quite pregnant, thinking, 'I'm going to ruin him. The first thing I say to him that's meaningful is going to scar him for life. I'm going to mean to be helpful, and it's just going to destroy him, and he's going to spend the rest of his life flat out on a couch in a therapist's office."

Despite her fears, the 46-year-old star believes it is "healthy" to worry about becoming a parent because it is such a huge commitment.

She said: "It's good to be scared. You should be. Love is scary and friendship is scary and children even more so."

Sarah Jessica has also admitted she and Matthew have considered relocating their family away from New York but she eventually realized she can't stand the thought of leaving the city.

The actress said: "Having three kids, we thought, 'Should we?' We sort of took some hours with some Realtors. But I didn't know how to do it. James is really attached to the city. He loves walking out that door, as do I, and the whole city is laid out in front of him. It's such a privilege."
