Her “very worth it” romance with Robert Pattinson may be making headlines, but FKA Twigs wants nothing to do with fame.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the singer says she doesn’t want to spend the rest of her days in the spotlight. In fact, she hope to one day slip quietly behind the scenes and start scoring films or directing videos for other artists.
“I don’t want to be in front of the camera forever,” she says. “I’m not thirsty. I’m not a pop star. I don’t want to reign over all forever.”
“I don’t want to be famous!” she adds. “It makes me feel sick, the thought of being a famous person. It’s just not me. I’m the happiest when I’m in the studio, not on a beauty parade.”
Since her relationship with Pattinson went public earlier this year, FKA Twigs has learned a few things about being famous. Aside from having the paparazzi follow her wherever she goes, the “Video Girl” crooner has learned what it is like being the target of internet trolls. After being flooded with a wave of racists messages on Twitter, the avant-pop songstress says she wiped all social media apps from her phone.
“If you stop looking at yourself on the Internet, is it really happening?” she muses to the publication. “I really recommend it – nothing happens other than you start reading books more and you start texting your mom more and your life goes back to normal.”
Pattinson, 28, and FKA Twigs, 26, first met backstage at one of her concerts. The couple were reportedly fell in love with her music and was introduced to the singer by longtime friends Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge.
