Just after Rihanna announced that she is set to collaborate with London brand River Island for a spring 2013 collection, the “Diamonds” songstress has stepped up her fashion game — Style Media announced on Wednesday that she is set to produce and star in their new fashion reality series Styled to Rock.
“Fashion has always played an integral part in my life and career,” explained Rihanna in a statement. “I am so excited to partner with Style Network and share my creative insight with these 12 designers and give them this opportunity to showcase their work.”
Scheduled to premiere in 2013, the Grammy Award-winner will handpick 12 up and coming designers to create eclectic pieces for a number of A-list celebs, as they fight for the chance to be America’s next savvy fashion designer.
Similar to Lifetime’s Project Runway, the judge panel will be star-studded with leaders of the fashion industry — varying by the week — to help mold and mentor the contestants as they face rounds of elimination.“Rihanna is a trailblazer, a trendsetter and the epitome of style. She has a powerful and unique point-of-view that transcends every aspect of pop culture, including fashion, and is a leading creative force,” gushed Style Network President Salaam Coleman Smith.
“On the heels of our successful network rebrand,” she continued. “Styled to Rock and Style’s new partnership with Rihanna will reinvent the fashion competition genre, fueling our viewers insatiable appetite for all things style.”
Styled to Rock will add to Rihanna’s impressive fashion resume including her fragrances Reb’l Fleur, Rebelle and Nude, two capsule collections under Armani, and her upcoming collection with River Island.
