Hold the phone, Honey Boo Boo Child. Apparently, Mama June isn’t dating someone who molested one of her relatives.
Romance rumors of the TLC star and Mark McDaniel, a man registered as a sex offender in the state of Georgia, began flying earlier this week. In an attempt to clear the air, Mama June herself logged online to deny claims that she has rekindled her relationship with her ex.
“Ppl sell stories to the tabloid everyday that r false! It isnt true i promise my kids r #1 priority over anything else and I would never put them in danger period over this or anything else they r my life this is my past I left him 10 yrs ago for it and I wouldn’t go back,” she wrote on her daughter Alana Thompson‘s official Facebook page in a typo-filled statement.
According to Mark’s son, Michael McDaniel, the two had previously dated but broke things off around 2004, the same year that his father was convicted. He added that Mark was wrongfully convicted of molestation, telling E! News, “His criminal record was [the result of] false accusation … My father is a good man and a good father, he has always been good, he would never hurt anyone.”
In September, it was announced that Here Comes Honey Boo Boo stars Mama June and her longtime partner Sugar Bear have decided to part ways after being together for over a decade.
“Sugar Bear and I have decided to take some time apart to figure out some things in our relationship,” Mama June said in a statement. “We are taking things day by day, but regardless of what happens, the girls will always be our number one priority. We want to thank y’all for your support.”
Though the former couple never confirmed the reason behind the breakup, reports claimed that Mama June discovered Sugar Bear’s profile on PlentyOfFish.com – as well as several other dating websites — looking for other women and stating his marital status as “single.”
In the wake of the rumors, TLC decided to cancel the former couple’s show after four seasons.
