Like Gretchen Weiners with “fetch,” Lindsay Lohan is trying to make a Mean Girls sequel happen. In fact, she has already pitched the idea to the cult classic’s screenwriter, Tina Fey.
Speaking with Time Out London, the 28-year-old admits she has talked to Fey about doing a follow-up — we’re not counting the tragic TV movie here — to the 2004 film.
“People really love the movie: how do you top that? I was with Tina Fey the other day and I said we should do another Mean Girls, like an older version where they’re all housewives and they’re all cheating,” Lohan says. “That would be really funny. I’ll harass Tina to write it.”
In the same interview, the actress, who has had her fair share of legal problems since starring in the coming-of-age high school flick, adds that she’s still interested in continuing her movie career despite her upcoming West End debut in Speed-the-Plow.
“I think it shows that I can be accountable and I think it helps with the perception that I’m just a psycho that goes out and stuff. I’ve done things, but people grow up and they change. I’m willing to work hard to gain back the respect that I once had and have lost,” she says. “In five years I would like to be married and have children, and hopefully be at the Oscars, but that’s as far as it goes for now.”
Hopefully, a Mean Girls sequel will also be in the works too. But from how Fey has responded to the whole thing, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
