After celebrating his three American Music Award wins with his mother at ceremony, Bieber had on-and-off love Gomez on his arm for the after-party on Sunday night. Though she wasn’t spotted inside the Nokia Theatre, Gomez — casual in grey jeans, green jacket and leopard-print scarf — joined Bieber following the show, reportedly leaving the venue hand-in-hand.
Though the couple first called it quits more than two weeks ago, Gomez, 20, and Bieber, 18, have come face-to-face several times since. Just Friday night, the pair were spotted in at Japanese restaurant Yamato in California’s San Fernando Valley, where they met up for dinner before leaving separately.
While the split seems up in the air, Bieber’s one-time collaborator Tyga wouldn’t be surprised if the high-profile pair did part ways for good. “When you’re young, it’s just like, puppy love,” the rapper told Celebuzz on the AMA red carpet. “Like when you’re in high school, you got that girlfriend or boyfriend you’ve been with for…four years. But when you get older, people just mature and go separate ways.”
And Lance Bass, who hosted the Coca-Cola Red Carpet Live pre-show, agreed young love doesn’t always survive in the spotlight. “Our little pop princess and prince have broken up. You know what, that happens,” the former ‘NSYNC member said. “It’s hard to have any relationship when you’re that young. We went through it with Justin (Timberlake) and Britney (Spears), so I’ve seen how hard it is to keep that going. And I feel for any celebrity that has to have a public relationship.”
“I think they were a pretty good couple [but] I mean, [Justin's] still a teenager, he’s still a kid,” said YouTube sensation Keenan Cahill, who’s recorded viral videos with Bieber. “I know he’s Justin Bieber, he’s really big. But remember, he’s just another kid, like everybody else. He’s really cool [and] really nice. It’s cool to see him not get devoured by the fame and…[stay] down to earth. I guess I would say just cool it off the press a little bit because he’s still a normal kid.”
