Jennifer Aniston is really tired of the mommy talk, folks.
The 45-year-old Life of Crime actress sat down with talk show host Carson Daly (whose fiancée recently gave birth to the couple’s third child incidentally) today and revealed she’s weary of always being asked about motherhood.
Daly, whose interview with Aniston was taped for the Today show, referenced a February Q&A session the Cake star had with Gloria Steinem where the two women discussed society’s pressure on women to fit a certain mold. In particular, the importance placed on being married and becoming a mother.
Aniston recalled, “I’d talked to her [Gloria] personally about this for a while, just because it is such an issue of, like, ‘Are you married yet? Are you going to have your babies yet?’”
“I don’t have this sort of checklist of things that have to be done, and … if they’re not checked, then I’ve failed some part of my feminism or my being a woman or my worth and my value as a woman because I haven’t birthed a child.
The Friends actress, a self-professed dog lover, added, “I’ve birthed a lot of things, and I feel like I’ve mothered many things. And I don’t feel like it’s fair to put that pressure on people.”
Aniston, who has been engaged to The Leftovers star Justin Theroux since 2012, has been plagued with questions regarding her plans for children for years.
While I absolutely concur that there is far too much emphasis placed on becoming a mother in society as a whole, Jen has been victim to increased scrutiny. This is probably attributable to the fact her famous ex husband Brad Pitt went onto marry and have children with the equally famous Angelina Jolie, making for one very high-profile love triangle.
Still, enough already.
