The crazy hot Idris Elba is reportedly in early talks to star in the upcoming Star Trek film as the main villain.
To be directed by Justin Lin (who directed several of the Fast & the Furious films), the third Star Trek installment will bring back mains stars Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock. Also on board are USS Enterprise crew members Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin.
The Luther actor has yet to comment on the rumors, but please let this one be true! Benedict Cumberbatch starred as the main villain in Star Trek Into Darkness, and did not disappoint.
Variety speculated that, “Early rumors suggest that Klingons would be the main villains in this movie, as they have not had a full presence in previous installments, but sources would not confirm if that was the case.”
The first two Star Trek films were directed by J.J. Abrams, who did not return for the third because he’s directing the new Star Wars film. The third installment is expected for a 2016 release (corresponding with the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek TV series).
Elba is currently starring in Cary Fukunaga‘s Beasts of No Nation, and has several other upcoming projects finished or in the works, such as Avengers: Age of Ultron, Disney’s The Jungle Book, A Hundred Streets and Bastille Day (which he just wrapped filming).
Last December, rumors were flying that Elba was in talks to be the next James Bond (which we’re fully, 100% behind).
