Little did we know that when Lizzie McGuire hit the Disney Channel in 2001, it would become one our most cherished childhood shows.
She represented everything we experienced as a kid: awkward encounters at school, insecure emotions about boys and friends and a seriously sick obsession with butterfly clips.
And when the last episode aired in 2004, a little piece of our hearts would be broken forever…
Or would it?
In a recent interview with Huffington Post, Hilary Duff may have mended our souls by admitting she’d be down to do a Lizzie McGuire reunion someday!
“I would be totally open to it. My schedule is a little busy right now But um… why not?” She said with a laugh, quoting her 2003 hit song.
“I mean, so many people loved her,” she continued. “I loved her. Honestly, working on that show, I got so strong with my physical comedy and all the things that they would throw at me. I got covered in goo every week, and I got, like, smashed in the face with a locker every single week. And all this, I mean it was a really, really fun show. And obviously people really loved her. Maybe a ‘Lizzie: Where Are You Now?’ like 10 years later.”
After Duff stopped working on the show in 2004, she went on to star in several movies including A Cinderella Story and The Lizzie McGuire Movie and released a couple albums, but after a while she decided she just needed a break (hence her disappearance for several years).
“I had toured for like 5 years, so once I was done with my last tour, I was just like, ‘I’m done. I need a break. I need to go away. I need to like live.’ And I did.”
During her hiatus, she ended up getting married to Mike Comrie (who she separated from earlier this year) and having a baby boy named Luca (who is now 2.5 years old).
But after releasing some new singles, working on a new album and starring in the TV Land series Younger all this year, I’d say she’s BACK… And a Lizzie McGuire reunion would definitely put the icing on the cake.
