Someone alert Avril Lavigne: Hello Kitty is coming for her.
OK not really, but a Hello Kitty Con is happening in October and the “Hello Kitty” singer can probably drive to the convention site in Los Angeles.
On Tuesday, organizers announced the first ever Hello Kitty Convention will take place at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (The Museum of Contemporary Art), located conveniently in the Little Tokyo neighborhood of L.A.
The four-day event, scheduled for Oct. 30 to Nov. 2, will coincide with Hello Kitty’s 40th anniversary. Fans of all ages can take part in workshops, lectures, food, art, a retrospective, cosplay (duh), a meet and greet (that promises a hug with Hello Kitty) and other things exclusive to the convention, according to the Sanrio website.
Dig out your favorite Hello Kitty memorabilia (I know you still have stickers and things in original wrapping), tickets are already on sale.
Meanwhile, the annual Comic Con in San Diego is set to kick off on Wednesday.
