What would it be like to be a fly on the wall when Guy Fieri read the scathing New York Times review of his new NYC restaurant? Saturday Night Live answered that question, but didn’t air the resulting sketch. But, NBC released the video on Monday.
In the video from the dress reheasal, Bobby Moynihan assumes the role of the Food Network’s casual dining chef and Diners, Drive-ins and Dives host on the show’s “Weekend Update” with Seth Meyers.
Pete Wells rates Fieri’s American Kitchen & Bar as “poor.” And Wells opens the review by posing questions to Fieri: “Have you eaten at your new restaurant in Times Square? Have you pulled up one of the 500 seats at Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar and ordered a meal? Did you eat the food? Did it live up to your expectations?”
After reading the review, Moynihan as Fieri responds to Meyers’ question about whether he thought the NYT would’ve liked his restaurant. “No,” he answers. “But, did they think they’d like it?”

By the way, it was later revealed that the same day the negative review published, the newspaper held an event at the restaurant for 160 staffers… Poetic justice?
