Well it’s official…kind of.
Colin Farrell has announced that he’s set to take over the reigns of HBO’s True Detective.
Farrell made the announcement in an interview with Sunday World, confirming his involvement in the anthology series that’s set to return for its second season next year.
“I’m doing the second series,” stated Farrell. “I’m so excited.”
He elaborated, “I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.”
The first season of the Emmy-winning HBO hit aired earlier this year and starred Woody Harrelson alongside Matthew McConaughey. It had been rumored that two female detectives might replace the boys, with Jessica Chastain even going as far to deny a few whirlwind stories about her potential involvement a few months ago.
HBO has yet to make the casting official, but if Colin is attached to the show it shouldn’t be too much longer before a more traditional announcement is made.
