HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has filed for divorce from Pete Wentz after nearly three years of marriage.
The divorce documents were filed Tuesday in L.A. Superior Court, with Simpson citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split, TMZ reports.
She is reportedly asking for joint primary physical custody of their 2-year-old son, Bronx, plus spousal support.
"After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce," the couple said in a statement. "We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our No. 1 priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives."
Simpson, 26, and Wentz, 31, exchanged vows in May 2008 in the backyard of her parents' home in Encino, Calif. Their wedding was officiated by her father, Joe Simpson.
