Despite her cute, seemingly delightful Christmas video for her holiday song “Santa Tell Me”, Ariana Grande reveals that she is not a fan of the big man in red and that the song is actually quite “sardonic and depressing”.
Ariana has some negative feelings towards Santa because of having a broken heart during the holidays in the past – even though all she’s feeling this year is love with boyfriend Big Sean.
The Daily Mail reported that Ariana told the Daily Star, “I’m repulsed by Santa. My song might sound cheerful but it’s really quite sardonic and depressing.”
She explained, “I’m like saying, ‘Santa what is your deal bro?’”
The beginning of Ariana’s hit holiday song goes: Santa, tell me if you’re really there/Don’t make me fall in love again if he won’t be here/Next year/Santa, tell me if he really cares/‘Cause I can’t give it all away if he won’t be here/Next year.”
She said, “I’ve had my heart broken multiple times around this time of year. I feel although it’s one of the most cheerful times of the year, I see tons of heartbreak and they make movies about it,” and that her song is “like a (Wham!) Last Christmas vibe.”
We all know about her notoriously adorable relationship with 26-year-old Big Sean, whom she began dating around August of this year. One thing is for sure, there’s no way the tenor of Ariana’s song rings true about her holiday this year!
The 21-year-old posted this pic to her Instagram, wishing all her fans a Merry Christmas:
