It’s no secret by now that Dennis, who was born female and now lives as a man, has an intense attraction to his boss, Joan, a former Hollywood starlet-turned-owner of JJK Security in Ringgold, Ga. (population: 3,613).

The two share a relationship that’s as complicated as it is close. While Joan encourages Dennis’ attraction to her, she also doesn’t completely accept him as a full-fledged man.
