FOX released a dramatic new promo Tuesday for The X Factor season 2, which plays out less like a teaser for a TV show and more like a trailer for, say, The Lord of the Rings.

Set to some type of dramatic choir music, the new promo teases a whole lot of action — everything from contestants being carried away on stretchers to people throwing water at the camera.

There’s also an appearance by Simon Cowell, who offers sage words of advice to the auditioners, and one particular contestant who looks a whole lot like Justin Bieber (natch).

Who will be The X Factor? And who will walk away in tears?

We’ll know when season 2 — which will mark the debuts of judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato — premieres on Wed., Sept. 12.
