‘The View’s’ Joy Behar Thinks Prince Harry Looks Good Nude, Donald Trump’s Digs Get Too Personal
Submitted by Celebrity News Wire on August 28, 2012
Prince Harry — with clothes on and off — has female fans of all ages.
“Any time you can find a male member of the royal family who looks good nude, you should run with it,” Behar said Tuesday, in a conference call promoting her new Current TV talk show, Joy Behar: Say Anything!
Few of the royals have been considered sex symbols — with perhaps Princess Di (who married into the family) being the most notable exception of the past two generations.
What else did Joy say?
Some observers have said there is a sexist bias in how the media has covered the scandal — in that if Prince Harry were Princess Harriet, the scandal would have been covered with more harshness.
Instead of celebrity and the royal scandal, politics and cable TV news network MSNBC have been soaking up Behar’s attention span — as The View co-host, 69, is switching gears from celebrity and pop culture to more political and the presidential election this fall.
“I can promise you the words Casey Anthony will not come up,” Behar said of her new show, which premieres Sept. 4. “That’s how it’s going to be different. Also, we won’t be asking how much propofol was in Michael Jackson. Those are the questions we won’t be asking. Political and social, I have a lot of interests. I’m not just interested in one subject.”
She continued, “We have one segment called Holy Rollers. We’re going to have a priest, a rabbi, and an imam on, to discuss issues of the day. It’s an interesting conversation you don’t see very much.”
Cable TV can make for strange bedfellows.
In this case, in Behar’s case, her new boss is former Vice President Al Gore, who owns Current TV. While Behar is known for her wit, the latter is not known for his comic spontaneity.
Behar jokes she will need magic to turn Gore into a funny guest.
“In addition to being a comedian, I’m also a magician,” Behar said. “No, truthfully, I heard he’s very funny. I haven’t met him. He only runs the station, and I haven’t met him yet. People tell me that he can be very funny and like to play. I’m looking forward to it.”
Behar will still be seen on her long-running stint on The View — as she has for 15 years — but will no longer will be starring on HLN’s The Joy Behar Show, which ended in 2011.
Other notable quips from Behar during the conference call:
On 50 Shades of Grey: “I thought it was kind of a boring book to tell you the truth. I was too tied up mostly to read it.”
On whom she’d most like to interview, dead or alive: “Dead Nora Ephron. Alive, Mel Brooks. Alive, President Obama.”
On Bravo’s Real Housewives shows: “I truly don’t even watch those shows. I’ve had those women on my HLN show, and they’re quite amusing. But … I don’t really care about [the shows] much.”
On Donald Trump‘s slam Tuesday of Huffington Post owner and longtime Democrat Arianna Huffington, as “unattractive both inside and out”: “Donald Trump and I have had a rather rocky relationship. But right now, we’re ok with each other. So, I’m going to leave well enough alone. He always goes for the personal, I told him that. I told him to stop doing the personal, but he doesn’t stop it.”
