Glee hasn’t been on for so long that Marley (Melissa Benoist) grew a set of balls in its hiatus. I know it has been awhile since we’ve seen our friends at McKinley High, but it seems like there’s been a few intense shifts.
On the standard FOX Glee holiday episode, the group headed to Sectionals. Due to Marley’s eating disorder, she crashed and fainted in the middle of the number and the Warblers ended up winning. Still, some of the New Directions weren’t willing to give up that trophy without a fight.Note: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched Thursday’s episode “Sadie Hawkins.”
Sam (Chord Overstreet) refused to accept the Warblers’ seemingly over the top talent and started his own investigation. Not that the Warblers aren’t awesome because they are, but how can a whole squad of teenagers be able to pull off those crazy gymnastic stunts? After some video surveillance and research, he noticed that the Warblers were growing at a rapid rate. A little too rapid…
While Sam was busy convincing Blaine (Darren Criss) of his suspicions, apparently Blaine was busy crushing on him? Who? What? When? Why? This seemed pretty out of left field, but wasn’t even the most outlandish part of the episode.
And no, I’m not talking about the world’s worst version of Sir Mix a Lot’s ”Baby Got Back.”
I’m talking about how Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) suddenly decided to fall in love, not just crush on, but legitimately fall in love with her gay friend Blaine. She is well aware that Blaine has no interest in the opposite sex and they could never be more than friends, but suddenly, after two years into their friendship she decides she’s dreamily in love him. So in love that she has to join the “Too Young To Be Bitter” club. By the way, this club and the return of Ashley Fink as Lauren Zizes are just one of those random Glee things that I find so damn lovable and hilarious. Yes, these kids are too young to be bitter, but do they have the right to be? Sure!Fink’s return was enjoyable, but it would’ve been far better to see her character sparring and flirting with Puck (Mark Salling) like back in the old days. Too bad Puck was busy tackling the grenade for his younger brother Jake (Jacob Artist) by taking out Kitty (Becca Tobin.)That’s probably a slight misuse of the term, because Kitty is attractive. But, by all definitions she’s pretty much an awful person. Luckily for little Puckerman, his big bro was willing to take one for the team so he wouldn’t be tempted during his night with Marley.
I love little Puckerman! Marley’s number with Brittany to “Tell Him” was probably my favorite of the night. It was probably tied with the TLC classic, “No Scrubs.” So when did Marley become so assertive? She was so quiet and passive and suddenly she told Jake that they’re either exclusive or nothing?
This girl is moving fast. Then again, she’s not the only one on this show who needs to pump the brakes. Rachel (Lea Michele) asked Brody (Dean Geyer) to move in! I understand it would be hard to resist asking any guy to move in who was training for Magic Mike: The Musical, but come on, Rachel. You were ready to marry Finn (Cory Monteith) like five minutes ago! Kurt (Chris Colfer) has the right idea with asking out a new guy and trying to explore things at his own pace.In the end, the Warblers were using performance-enhancing drugs (such a foreshadow to this whole Lance Armstrong scandal.) Tina and Blaine had a great time, but are still in love with un-gettable people; Kurt has a date; and little Puck is ready to get exclusive with Marley.
OMG: Tina’s in love with Blaine!!!
Thank You, TV gods.: For referencing Magic Mike: The Musical, but can we get some visuals?
Awk-ward: That version of “Baby Got Back.”
Hotness: The boys performing TLC’s “No Scrubs.” Nobody does R&B like Artie! Watch it again above.
Fab-u-lous: Throwback to the 60s on “Tell Him.”
Can. Not. Wait: Apparenly, there’s some nakedness coming up…
Celebuzz Meter (1-10): 6. Couple of good numbers but a couple of bad. Not in love.
